I’ve been a family photographer for 13 years. It’s no coincidence that I opened the business when I was pregnant with my first child. We can’t preserve our children’s childhood in amber, or keep them small forever.
Photographs are the best hope we have of remembering things, as they were.
I specialize in capturing the candid, lively, fleeting moments that make a family unit unique. From blended families to solo parents, from precious newborns to the excitement of adoption, my clients’ families take all forms, and each deserves to be celebrated. Some clients return every year, and I get to watch their kids grow and change, develop new hobbies and discover their passions. Other clients prefer to schedule sessions to align with a special occasions or milestones.
From holiday portraits, to Mother’s Day, from the cherry blossoms in spring to summer sunsets, my Ottawa families bring me joy year round.
And yet, there are also instances where the connection to my clients is one of heartbreak or loss. I have earned a reputation as the kind of person people turn to in life’s hardest moments, and that is my proudest achievement.
Giving families the gift of memory is invaluable when life suddenly takes a turn. My empathy for families traveling a difficult path was born at the age of seven, when I lost my dad. No amount of pictures can make up for that absence, but there isn’t a day I’m not grateful for those I do have. So, when a family calls on me in their darkest hour, I know the memories we make together will bring a measure of comfort, and, one day, perhaps, help to light the path forward.
